What are the white placebo pills for birth control?

I started Yaz just about a month ago. I start the white pills tomorrow. (There are 4 white ones that come in the Yaz pack) What exactly do these white ones do? Well, I guess my major question would be: Can I still have unprotected sex and be safe on those??

Or what? What are the white placebo pills for birth control?
They are sugar pills that contain no medicine, when you take them this is supposed to give your body a break from the hormones allowing you to have your period. I've always had unprotected sex on them with my boyfriend, but I don't think it's 100% safe. The pill usually works but keeping your ovaries from releasing an egg, but since there is no medicine in these pills, you might release one. You'll probably be on your period the whole time you're on the white pills so that won't really be something you have to worry aboutWhat are the white placebo pills for birth control?
If the white pills are truly a placebo as you say then they will not work.

Have you ever heard the term placebo effect? When someone takes a sugar pill for some kind of ailment and they think the treatment is working even though the pill is not doing anything at all that is called the placebo effect. That means that when people expect to feel better they do to an extent.

When drug manufacturers do clinical trials to test the efficacy of drugs they have to determine whether the drug has a therapeutic benefit that outweighs any placebo effect.

I do not have enough information to know if you will be safe. Birth control does not protect you against STDs. Unprotected sex is never safe unless you are in a monogamous relationship where neither partner has any STDs. If you don't want kids I would still use condoms as an insurance policy. Good luck.
They are just 'fake' pills that you take to keep you on your routine of taking your pill. That is their only purpose.

You are still protected from pregnancy whether you take them or decide to skip them.
