Trane heater LED diagnostic code indicates to replace the control. How dependable is this information?

The light stays ';steady on.'; The inside of the panel says that this means to ';replace control.'; The blower won't come off, so when the heater switches on, it goes right back off without lighting. The fan won't work in the ';on'; position.

I don't want to spend a hundred bucks, replace it, then have that not be the problem. I want to know how dependable the LED indicator is.Trane heater LED diagnostic code indicates to replace the control. How dependable is this information?
If you have a volt/ohm meter, the first thing to check, with the power off, are your limit/safety switches for continuity. Some are re-setable. If they test good, the control has a problem and needs replacing. A bad limit/safty switch will cause the control to only run the blower continuously.
