How do we get rid of this stray cat that keeps hanging around w/out calling animal control?

We don't feed it or pet it. How can we get it to go away without harming it? If we call animal control, we know that it may be euthanized. Any suggestions? How do we get rid of this stray cat that keeps hanging around w/out calling animal control?
I guess your not an animal lover then. Poor kitty :( What if he belongs to someone and he can't find his owner? Maybe you could take a picture and make flyers. Also, check with your city to see if they have a ';lost and found'; bulletin board that you can post. If the stray is friendly, most likely he is just lost or have been recently abandoned. If the owner was caring enough, the cat may have been microchipped. Most animal shelters will have a device to detect this.

Otherwise, you could contact a local no-kill animal shelter to see whether they can trap it for you and perhaps help the cat to find a nice warm loving home. That's the least you could do.

Sometimes I find this a fate because I didn't find my cats, it was them that found me and I love them to death!!How do we get rid of this stray cat that keeps hanging around w/out calling animal control?
get it's confidence and then take him/her to the vet and get them fixed. As soon as you try to put him in a carrier, they will run off and not want to come back...at least I have had luck with this..
keep it just a while and you can find it a new home in no time! make few posters and ask them to see if they're interested.
Animal control picking up a stray does not necessarily mean it will be euthanized. That's what cats do, though, they pretty much are self sufficient. A neighbor's cat hangs around our house and at first it bothered me, but then one day I saw it carry off a rat from our yard. I've seen it do it several times now and believe me, the cat is less a nuisance that the rats that I didn't even know they were there..

Answer: That's why we have the second amendment

You just have to act mean and try to scare it off.

You could also take photos of it, make flyers, and pass them around the neighborhood asking if it's their pet, and if so, to keep it home and get tags for it so it won't end up killed.
Take him to a no kill shelter. You may have a humane trap program near you that can bring a trap and take him to a safe shelter. He can then be reunited with his lost owners or adopted out. Don't just ignore him, he is seeking help. It does not take much time or effort to save him.
Sounds like you care about the little guy! Try taking a picture, and then posting it on Pet FBI. Post signs WITH the cats picture all over the neighborhood. Ask a couple friends or family if they would like to help a cat with a home. After a couple weeks if nothing pans out, buy an inexpensive cardboard cat carrier ($7) and take him to a NO KILL shelter, not the humane society or pound. You can also put an ad on craigslist for your area, but be careful to make sure the buyers aren't people who hurt cats. The best way to do that is ask a $20 adoption fee. In the mean time, I understand you don't like him hanging around, but it would be very sweet of you to put something out for him to eat. Sounds like he's going to be there either way. There will always be homeless cats, unfortunately. Thanks for noticing this lost soul!
The only thing you can do is continue not to feed or pet it, you are right, by calling animal control you are probably signing it's death warrant. Poor thing - It is looking for love and food in an ugly world full of over populated unwanted animals. Maybe you could put up a picture on the street posts %26amp; maybe it belongs to someone who recently moved and there cat got out and can't find it;s way home, if it's not wild it's a good chance that it is someones pet. We live in the country and have a terrible feral cat problem as well as jerks dumping cats in the area all the time, it's hard to turn your back on them but unrealy to think you can take in wild animals and save them. Wish you luck!
maybe you should adopt the cat or maybe the cats adopt you since its coming to you alot
