How long does it take for Yasmin birth control to start working?

I started taking the pill and had unprotected sex a few days after starting to take it. I know the birth control pill doesn't start working until after a certain amount of time but how long does it take for the pill to protect me? I am worried I might be pregnant. How long does it take for Yasmin birth control to start working?
Generally, if you start taking the pills on the first day of your period or a few days thereafter, and take them every day as directed by your doctor, you should be protected after 7 days.

However, most doctors will recommend using a backup method until you've gone a full one-month cycle on your pills. This is because not all women's bodies react the same way to the hormones, so it's generally better to play it safe until your body has had time to settle in %26amp; adjust to the hormones.

If you start taking them at a different time in your cycle, then you definitely need to wait until you've been on the pills for a full month before you can expect to be protected.

I don't know where you were in your cycle when you started taking the pills, but since it sounds like you didn't wait even 7 days, the best thing for you to do is keep taking the pills as directed and either stop having sex for now or start using a backup method like condoms -every- time. Then, when it's been two weeks since the last time you had unprotected sex, take a pregnancy test. If it's negative, and you've been taking the pills every day as directed, then it will be safe for you to go without backup.

Hope that helps! How long does it take for Yasmin birth control to start working?
talk to your gyn %26amp; pharmacist about your medication BEFORE starting it. be sure you understand everything. use condoms %26amp; get STD testing annually.
